The first Croatian Translation Forum was held in Zagreb on
November 5, 2015, and was attended by around 100 language industry
professionals including representatives of translation companies, software
developers, translators and linguistics teachers and other professionals
involved in the language industry from Croatia and other countries of Southeast
Europe.
The forum was the first event of its kind
held in Croatia and it managed to showcase the development,the current state
and the desired perspectives of the translation industry in the region on
several different levels, ranging from linguistic and strictly professional
aspects to its impact on society ona wider scale.
In the context of Croatia and its
neighboring countries, the forum was an icebreaker intended to set the
standards for similar events to comeinto the region.
The speakers were top industry
professionals from all over Europe and keynote speaker Stefan Gentz gave an
entertaining and deep presentation on the future of the industry on the top
level, concluding that “the future is now” and that “we are the ones we have
been waiting for.”
