Schenectady, NY (7/11/07) – On Tuesday, July 10th, Eging Language Solutions, Inc.’s Director of Localization delivered an informative presentation on the business of translation to the Tech Valley Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication, during their monthly meeting.
Mark Lawyer, who serves as Director of Localization Solutions, has been an integral part of the Eging business development team since 2003. Lawyer’s key responsibilities revolve around the creation of solutions for clients with complex globalization and localization needs, ranging from content management integration and workflow automation to customized application development and deployment.
Enlightening and informative, Lawyer’s presentation was aimed to help technical communicators collaborate and partner with translation agencies, through the utilization of prevalent software systems and globalization of workflows. The discussion offered insight into the business of language and tips on the intricacies of creating technical documentation for multilingual communications.
During his presentation entitled, “In Other Words: The Business of Translation”, Mr. Lawyer provided information to fellow STC members looking to position themselves to successfully integrate with translation agencies and work more effectively within the translation and localization workflow process. Particular emphasis was placed on the following areas:
Overview of the translation industry from the agency’s point of view
Understanding the cultural and linguistic dynamics of localization processes to create better multilingual documentation
Integrating with technologies such as AcroCheck™ and WorldServer™, among others
Benefits of project efficiency solutions through technology
